Privacy Statement – extended version

Placing an order

When you order something via Hollandbooks.nl, XPatJournal.nl or XPat.nl – such as a book or a subscription – we ask you to provide us with certain information. For instance, your street address, so that we can deliver your order(s). The delivery is carried out by SP Abonneeservice, in Alphen a/d Rijn, with whom we have entered into a handling agreement. SP Abonneeservice exercises due care when using your personal data and only uses it to process your order, commissioned by XPat Media/The XPat Journal.
All financial transactions are handled by a third party Mollie with whom we also have a handling agreement. We do not safe your bank- or creditcard details in our own systems.

Aside from your street address, we also ask you to provide us with your e-mail address and telephone number so that we can contact you should any complications arise regarding the payment or delivery of your order.

The tax authorities require us to save all invoice, payment and order data during a period of seven years.

Our website has been secured, using a valid SSL certificate (demonstrated by the ‘padlock’, visible in the browser’s address bar).

Newsletter

If you register for our newsletter, you will receive (a maximum of) one or two digital newsletters a month, with information on recently published books, gift suggestions or deals. We employ the services of e-mail marketing provider Mailchimp, an American company, for sending these e-mails. Mailchimp allows us to monitor which links in the newsletter are selected, how often this is done and which links are not selected, as well as how many people open the newsletter. This is useful information that allows us to optimize the newsletter. Mailchimp’s systems are secure and they keep the information they are provided with confidential. More information on how Mailchimp processes and protects your data can be found on: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

You can unsubscribe by clicking on the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the newsletter. Or you can send an e-mail to info@xpat.nl with the subject line ‘unsubscribe newsletter’, and we will process your request manually. The e-mail addresses used for the newsletter are managed only through Mailchimp – we do not share them with third parties.
